We do not yet fully know all the implications of ‘Brexit’ and when, or even if, the UK will be leaving the European Union.

For now, we want to put your mind at ease and to let you know that if the UK does leave the European Union and you’re shipping from outside the UK, we will still be able to take care of all your importation needs. You will continue to enjoy the same professional levels of service as you do currently.

However, there are a few points to bear in mind that may differ, depending on if we leave with or without a deal.  Some additional paperwork appears to be unavoidable as it stands, but we are ion hand to take on as much of the administration of this paperwork on your behalf as we are able.

Shipping Invoices for Customs

Whatever happens, we will require a shipping invoice which shows you as the shipper and your exhibiting name c/o the event as the importer. It should detail each piece you are importing and a £ Sterling value for Customs purposes.

If you are shipping artworks it will also require the title of any pieces, the artists, materials, sizes/weights if possible.

Items cannot have a zero value. We’ll help you with this when it comes to completing one and have a template you can use, please get in touch before completing your forms.

VAT for Artwork Shipping

For now, please consider the values of what you are sending as VAT on original artwork is currently 5%. We do not know if this will change.

If we are out of the Customs Union and a Trade Deal is not in place, we’ll probably have to import as a Temporary Import (Temporary Admission) and have the VAT guaranteed with our bond. A bond fee is payable based on a % of the declared value.

When you sell work, you will need to capture the buyer’s information so that we can make subsequent Customs entries to Customs and pay the VAT on your behalf.
Please note: Shipments would not be able to leave the UK until the necessary paperwork is completed.

Plan Ahead

Whatever your event, if you are able to do so, please consider shipping as early as possible.   This will help to alleviate any issues caused by your shipments possibly being delayed, as your goods may be slow in being released by Customs.

Whatever happens, EBISS is ready to take care of you and help you with whichever process we’re going to have to work with. If you have ANY questions or concerns, please get in touch and we would be happy to discuss them with you.

We are monitoring the situation closely and as soon as there are any more definite details available we will keep you updated.
